Citizens of Mount Olympus: Cub Scouts Triumph at Camp Kaibab’s Greeks Greatest Event!

Cub Scouts gathered at Camp Raymond for the Camp Kaibab Greeks Greatest event, where they donned golden laurel wreaths, and competed in exciting challenges like lightning bolt throwing, archery, and navigating the Labyrinth!

At the end of September, the Greek citizens (Cub Scouts) gathered for the Camp Kaibab Greeks Greatest event at Mount Olympus (Camp Raymond). The citizens were adorned in their best togas, golden laurel wreaths and were guided by the Gods and demigods.

The citizens were truly great athletes as they practiced their lightning bolt and discus throwing.  They competed in a tug of war to see who was the strongest.  For the most skilled, they competed in the triskele relay, archery and slingshots. They made beautiful gold paracord bracelets to be worn long after the event. And for the bravest, they conquered the challenges of the Labyrinth with the thunder cave, lava walk, crossing the sea, laser field and much more.

Athena asked, every so kindly, the OA Mogollon Chapter members if they would serve the citizens and for each meal they prepared a bounty of delicious food.

At the evening campfire, citizens were entertained by the Gods and demigods as well as the citizens. The singing was amazing and filled the skies.  Athena and Zeus promised the citizens gold coins when they departed the next day.

We would like to give a special thanks to over 50 Scouts BSA volunteer staff members and leaders from Troops 194, 446, 505, 526, 2194, 7136 and 9033 who supported this event. Marc Braatz and the kitchen staff dedicating four days preparing our meals and taking care of the kitchen. Ranger Rick for all his support at Camp Raymond! Greeks Greatest Youth Committee that met for over 7 months planning every detail – Sam, Brodie, Eleanor, Ishaan, Jaden, Jason and Katrina. And, Devin, OA White Tanks Chapter Chief (youth), our Camp Director Athena and Stan Scofield, OA White Tanks Chapter Adviser (adult).

We hope all the Greek citizens had fun and can’t wait to see you next year with another exciting, themed weekend!
