Our Council is blessed with amazing volunteers who generously offer their time to support the Scouting program and inspire the next generation of leaders. Everyone is welcome to join us in recognizing our 2022 Council Honorees: Meritorious Star, Silver Beaver, North Star, and Distinguished Star recipients. This special event is part of our Council Winter Homecoming where all volunteers can attend training, workshops and other activities going on in our Council. Hope to see you there!

Marc Braatz, Ponderosa District Meritorious Service Star 2022
Marc Braatz, an Eagle Scout from the Ponderosa District, has been an active Scouter for over 25 years. He currently serves as an Order of the Arrow Associate and Chapter Advisor, developing, guiding and mentoring young men and women in leadership development and character. He has organized and guided several District Camporees and OA Lodge Ordeals within the district. In addition, Marc
has been instrumental in both the Cub and Scouts BSA programs over the years. He currently serves as a Scoutmaster for Troop 7134 and in previous years as an Assistant Scoutmaster for the troop in addition to Cubmaster, Tiger Cub Leader, Den Leader and Webelo Leader for Pack 7142. Marc has mentored many Scouts over many years and enjoys serving on Eagle Boards of Review where he has supported several hundred Eagle candidates in obtaining their Eagle Scout rank. Marc has also received the District Award of Merit and exemplifies his dedication and commitment to the Scouting program every single day by living the Oath and Law. It is our honor to award Marc the Meritorious Service Star for his selfless service and great impact on the lives of youth and Scout families in Grand Canyon Council. Congratulations, Marc!
Dilworth C. Brinton, Jr. , Lost Dutchman District
Meritorious Service Star 2022
Dilworth Brinton, an Eagle Scout, has given his time, talents and energy throughout his adult life to the youth in the Grand Canyon Council BSA for over 64 years! Currently serving in the Lost Dutchman District as a Webelo Den Leader, Dil has held many leadership positions within the Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA, Varsity and Venture Crew programs. In addition to serving as a merit badge counselor, Dil continues to be a huge advocate of Scouting within his community.
As a servant leader in the Scouting program in Grand Canyon Council, Dil has mentored many young men and women who have had the privilege of knowing and serving next to him. His wisdom and experiences have benefitted so many youth, young adults and Scout families over so many years. Dil has received the District Award of Merit, the Distinguished Commissioner Service Award, the James E. West Fellows Award, the Silver Beaver Award and numerous Unit Leader Awards. Dil has served as the Roundtable Commissioner for his district, the Training Chair and participated on the Council Camping Committee. Wood badge trained, Dil also served as a Wood badge staff leader, taught classes at Baden Powell University as well the College of Commissioner Science. Wherever he can share his experience, dedication and love for Scouting, Dilworth Brinton is very deserving of the Meritorious Service Star and we honor him today! Thank you, Dil for your service to Scouting at all levels of the program in Grand Canyon Council!
